Code of Ethics

• In my personal and professional life I hold trustworthiness, having a tremendous work ethic and exercising due diligence in the highest regard. Through this ethics code, I remind myself of what it means to be a professional journalist.

• I do not pander to sources, subjects or groups. I pursue the truth and what is important to readers. Temptation presents itself at all times. I promise to fight through temptation and uphold the values I have outlined here.

• I accept people of all races, sexualities, genders and backgrounds. To discriminate against someone else would be to discriminate against myself.

• I must be able to express my ideas and communicate clearly with those around me. Without clear communication, I feel that things get much more difficult. When I am able to communicate openly with those around me, no problem or situation is too hard to handle.

• True journalism demands objectivity and an unbiased view on every facet of life. I promise to exercise due diligence in my reporting through thorough fact-checking, avoiding conflicts of interest, searching for credible sources and writing my own words only.

• Lastly, I pride myself on being able to function individually and in a team. In my managerial experience, I have found that teamwork is paramount in making any operation move smoothly.
